For instance, Northern Virginia has a very distinct accent that is very different than even the rest of Virginia. I pointed it out to one of my co-workers and he was like I don't have an accent and was all self-concious. But they say their O's like "e-oo" instead of "oh" and they don't say their L's. So, instead of saying "hold on"...they say something more like "hoe-d on." I wondered if they have an accent and don't notice it then maybe I do too? Ever since that day Jen and I have been picking out words that I say funny. Here are a few examples, I listed my way first and Jen (she's from Jersey) second.
Heroes: Do you say he-rows or here-oes?
Grocery: Do you say grosh-ery or gross-ery?
Coupon: Do you say cue-pon or coo-pon?
Those of you from Utah (or elsewhere) will have to tell me how you pronounce those words or if you can think of any other words that might be good ones for Jen and I to test.

hey kirst off the subject but where did you get your free photoshop online at?
You are right on all three pronuncitions. At least you were when you lived in Utah. Now I guess you are wrong, so you'll have to either learn a new way to speak, or move back here. Oh, and you don't know me. I'm Josh Jones mom and surfed onto your blog from theirs.
I say cue-pon and my husband hates it! Us utah people do have an accent!
You have been tagged! Follow the directions on my blog page.

I was born and raised in Northern VA, went down to Auburn ALabama for College and now I'm back to NoVa. I have definitely been told I have an accent, yet I dont think I do at all. I say cue-pon, Grosh-ery, and Here-oes and I got some more for you. "Bad" for some reason me and a bunch of my friends from up here pronounce it almost like sheep. It sounds like "bayyaad". "sorry" sounds like "sore-y". That's all I can think of right now.
